Behind the Scenes of Wine Judging

Walking down the wine aisle at your local retailer, you’re bound to find bottles with different stickers and labels promoting a variety of awards. With the recent double-gold win for Middle Sister Drama Queen Pinot Grigio at the San Francisco International Wine Competition, we wanted to give you a look into the world of wine judging and explain how it all works.

Tim McDonald, one of our favorite Wine Misters and one of the most sought-after wine judges in the business gives our Wine Sisterhood personal sommelier Erin Sullivan a peek behind the curtain of wine judging in this latest episode of Wine Sisterhood TV.

Erin interviews Tim to find out what it’s like behind the scenes at an international wine competition, what it takes to become a wine judge and exactly how many sips, swirls and spits it takes to make Tim (almost!) want to throw in the towel.

My most favorite Yellow Tail Wine is Shirz….it is awesome…just a short wiff….swirl gently in your glass, take a sip…hold it in your mouth……..then swallow slowly. That is just extacy!!!!!
