Around the Bay for Labor Day

Labor Day marks the many contributions we workers have made. It also signifies the end of glorious summer. This weekend is your chance to do something relaxing, delicious, a little bit lazy and most of all fun. We’ve put together a list of some of our favorite spots and events happening around the San Francisco Bay on the long weekend and a few wine suggestions for each spot and event. If you happen to be in wine country and want to take a break from wine touring and tasting, the San Francisco Bay Area is only about one hour or so south and there are a zillion things to see, do and enjoy.

Snag the “Snowy Plover” from Andytown Coffee Roasters

Named for an adorable species of bird found and protected in the Outer Sunset where the original Andytown Coffee Roasters is located. This magical concoction is made with Pellegrino over ice, two shots of Andytown’s espresso, a dash of brown-sugar syrup and topped off with a dollop of homemade whipped cream. Heavenly! You can enjoy the drink at two locations in the Outer Sunset, or if you are hitting up the Giants / Philles Game, head to the rooftop Salesforce Tower Park location at 181 Fremont Street.

WINE PAIRING: Okay people, coffee first. But later in the day, you might start thinking about crisp, light whites or a well-chilled rose from B.R. Cohn Winery and Olive Oil Company in Sonoma.

Catch the SF Giants / Philadelphia Phillies Series

Baseball and Labor Day go together like Pinot Noir and a Ballpark Dog (trust us on this pairing)! Labor Day weekend is sure to be an exciting three-game series. Head to Oracle Park to catch the SF Giants take on the Philadelphia Phillies at their home turf. And while you are there, grab a Bacon Wrapped Hot Dogs and Sheboygan Bratwurst!

WINE PAIRING: For brats and dogs on your own grill, there’s nothing better than a big, bold red. We’re partial to the hearty zins from Cosentino Winery. They hail from the Lodi region, at the easternmost reaches of the San Francisco Bay, a region famous for great Zinfandel.

WHEN: Sept 02-04

Take your Furry Friend Out on a Beach Day

Nothing like a Labor Day beach picnic with your favorite pal. There are lots of dog friendly beaches in the Bay Area including Baker Beach, Fort Funston, Lands End Beach, Rodeo Beach, and Montara State Beach, to name a few! Check out Rover.com for an even more detailed list and information. You can’t go wrong spending the day taking in scenic views, Golden Gate vistas, surf, sand and the seaside breeze.

Iggy Pup Enjoying Rodeo Beach!

WINE PAIRING: It’s official. Dogs have more fun. It’s only fitting that here we suggest Bar Dog Pinot Noir? Bar Dog wines give back to rescues across the U.S. through a grant to Pet Finder Foundation. Every bottle helps a pup find its forever home.
