Pride Month: Orgs We Love to Support

Diversity is one of the most important elements of a high-value wine collection and we believe the same holds true for the people in our lives. This month we’re raising a toast in celebration of Pride Month and in support of inclusivity everywhere.

To share the love, we reached out to Wine Sisterhood team members across the country to find out the LGBTQ+ organizations they love to support. Below are the groups our team wanted to share and celebrate.

Do you have an LGBTQ+ organization you want to give a shout out to? Post their information in a comment or share on social media and tag @winesisterhood to get our attention.

SF LGBT Center

Even in San Francisco, the bright purple SF LGBT Center stands out at 1800 Market Street. It serves as a central location for the LGBT community of San Francisco, where individuals who need resources, support, or a safe space to gather can find comfort and celebration. Their mission is to connect San Francisco’s diverse community to opportunities, resources and each other to achieve their vision of a stronger, healthier, and more equitable world for LGBTQ people and allies. They host over 200 programs and welcome more than 9,000 individuals each month, in addition to providing affordable office space.

Equality California

Equality California fights for full, lived LGBTQ+ equality in a number of ways: passing pro-equality legislation, electing pro-equality leaders, fighting for civil rights in the courtroom, reducing disparities in LGBTQ+ health and well-being, developing a pipeline of LGBTQ+ leaders and increasing civic participation within the LGBTQ+ community. This organization brings the voices of LGBTQ+ people and allies to institutions of power in California and across the US, striving to create a world that is healthy, just, and fully equal for all LGBTQ+ people. We advance civil rights and social justice by inspiring, advocating, and mobilizing through an inclusive movement that works tirelessly on behalf of those we serve.

Center on Halsted

Center on Halsted is the Midwest’s most comprehensive community center dedicated to advancing community and securing the health and well-being of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) people of Chicagoland. More than 1,000 community members visit the Center every day, located in the heart of Chicago’s Lakeview Neighborhood. This organization provides a safe and welcoming environment with programs and services for the entire community. Their programs range from volleyball, dance performances and cooking classes to rapid HIV testing, group therapy and vocational training. They partner regularly with other organizations and groups from across Chicago and the nation to provide additional programming for the community.

Organizacíon Latina de Trans en Texas

The Organizacíon Latina de Trans en Texas (OLTT) is a community-based, trans-led organization that provides health and education services, community resources, and legal help for trans Texans. OLTT is dedicated to action and growth. Their initiatives range from providing emergency housing and food to hosting empowerment and leadership groups, assisting with official changes to name and gender markers, and supporting those in detention centers or facing deportation.

Brooklyn Community Pride Center

Across the spectrum from young people to elders, Brooklyn Community Pride Center enables our community to actively participate in positive, life-affirming activities. The Pride Center offers a distinctive choice for residents of New York City’s largest borough to celebrate, heal, learn, create, organize, relax, socialize, and play. The organization offers programs centered around health and wellness, homelessness and housing, immigration, racial justice, social isolation and workforce development.

Aqua Foundation for Women

The mission of Aqua Foundation for Women is to serve and support the lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community in South Florida through grants, scholarships, and initiatives. Each year Aqua sponsors your LGBTQ women who are pursuing a degree – bachelors, masters, doctorate and more. We not only help pay for their education, we support them in their leadership training.
