Toast to Galentine’s Day!

Galentine's Day

While everyone’s out buying chocolates and making romantic dinner reservations, we’re choosing to focus on a lesser known holiday on February 13th: Galentine’s Day.

What is Galentine’s Day? It’s a holiday that got its start on TV, with a Parks and Recreation character named Leslie Knope, played by the one and only Amy Poehler.

“Oh, it’s only the best day of the year. Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style. Ladies celebrating ladies. It’s like Lilith Fair, minus the angst. Plus frittatas.” So says Leslie Knope.

Keep those Valentine’s Day reservations and add a Galentine’s get together with your girlfriends. Here are our favorite ideas to help you celebrate in style:

1. Send her an old-school Valentine.

Use our free, printable Middle Sister Valentines cards to show your gal pals that you care. Leave a funny note on her car or on her desk. Bonus points if you include a bottle of Middle Sister Wines! (shop online or find near you)

2. Send a streaming subscription

Give the gift of laughter with a streaming subscription that includes some of our favorite lady-led funny shows like Parks and Recreation, The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, The Mindy Project and 30 Rock. Kick things off with a comfy night on the couch, paired with a fierce bottle of Girl & Dragon wines.

3. Plan a breakfast date

Switch things up and plan to get together over a breakfast feast. And don’t forget the waffles! Knope’s advice: “We need to remember what’s important in life: friends, waffles, work. Or waffles, friends, work. Doesn’t matter, but work is third.”

4. Get your “om” on

Drop in at your favorite local yoga studio for a bit of flow and relaxation. Top it off with small bites and sips at your favorite wine bar afterward.

5. Go on an adventure

Trade in your usual happy hour with a new adventure. Sign up for a class at the climbing gym, go watch a local band, or attend a sports event. Better yet, try something all of you have never done before!

Cheers to a very happy Galentine’s Day!
