Gourmet Hot Dogs, Tailgating with Bar Dog wine
Football games bring tailgating. The best part of tailgating? Foods eaten out of hand and cheering with friends.
Our favorite tailgating food is the hot dog. Today, we elevated the humble dog for gourmet tailgating. We collected five of our favorite hot dog recipes perfect for game day.
The right wine to enjoy with dogs? Bar Dog wine, a juicy California Cabernet Sauvignon that is fresh enough for game day.
We’ve made five of football season’s hottest dogs for you to enjoy with Bar Dog wines.
Good Morning Dog!
Nacho Dog
Chicago Dog
Frito Pie Dog
Bon Appetit’s Ranch Dog
When tailgating starts early, the Good Morning! Dog is the choice to ease into the game. Constructed of a large pancake, piece of bacon and a snappy hot link, this hot dog gets the day started on a hearty note. Drizzled in maple syrup, and you’ve brought it to a brand new level.

Taking inspiration from what’s inside the football stadium, we topped the Nacho dog with rich Nacho cheese, pickled jalapenos and crushed up seasoned tortilla chips. This hot dog surprised us with its harmonious flavors and spicy heat.
Another great wine pairing idea with this dog: Middle Sister Rebel Red. Find Rebel Red near you or purchase it online.
We always respect the classics. This Chicago dog is built according to the strict instructions of the Chicago dog vendors of the city of big shoulders. Yellow mustard, chopped white onions, bright green sweet pickle relish, a dill pickle spear, tomato slices or wedges, pickled peppers and a dash of celery salt make this classic a drippy, delicious mess.

Born of the Southern states, Frito pie is a glorious pile of chili, cheese and Fritos. We’ve taken inspiration from the Frito pie by topping our hot dog with beef chili, green onions, cheddar and Fritos. Adjust the spices in the chili for more heat, and prepare extra napkins for accompaniment.
