Tailgating Time: Saturday Dips, Chips & Sips

Tailgating Time: Chips, Dips & Sips

Summer may be over and that whirlwind of a world series has been all played out, but football season rolls on – and those fans need to be fed! Chips and dips are one of our go-to traveling tailgating treats, whether we’re headed out to watch a game at a friend’s house or in our favorite team’s parking lot.

We’ve pulled together some of the tastiest dip recipes we’ve seen this season from our Tailgating Pinterest Board below. Cheers to friends, fun, fabulous food and football!

The Chips

A game-winning dip is going to need a chip that can hold up to the test. When we have a bit of extra time to prep for a tailgating party, it’s nice to bake up a batch of pita or tortilla chips. Bonus – they can be healthier than the store bought kind. Here are a couple of how-tos to walk you through:

Guacamole in Shell - Tailgating Time: Chips, Dips & Sips | Wine Sisterhood Blog

First up, a delicious guacamole recipe from Wine Sister Angeles. No bowls needed here, you prepare it right in the shell! In ten simple steps:

  1. Slice avocado lengthwise.
  2. Twist apart.
  3. Mmmm creamy yumminess inside… (Ok, that’s not really a step).
  4. Score avocado flesh (not necessary, but makes the mashing easier).
  5. Add a dash of salt (use your table shaker & give it a quick tap).
  6. Slice a lime.
  7. Squeeze 1/3-1/2 of the lime over your scored avocado
  8. Mash the avocado, lime juice, and salt together with a fork, being careful not to pierce the shell, but being sure to scrape all the flesh away from the shell.
  9. Dice and stir in a cherry tomato for color (this isn’t necessary, but makes it look pretty!).
  10. ENJOY!
