Toast to Tailgating Season

Toast to Tailgating Season - Wine Sisterhood Blog

September? It’s not only harvest—it’s time to tailgate!

September is one of our very favorite months at the Wine Sisterhood. School’s back in session, harvest is in full swing, the valley is alive with visitors and activity and yes, football and all its and ritual is back—including the honorable tradition of the tailgate party. We often check with Wikipedia for facts on wine and winemaking, but we think the entry on tailgating is particularly to-the-point and well-worth quoting:

“A tailgate party is a social event held on and around the open tailgate of a vehicle. Tailgating, which originated in the United States, often involves consuming alcoholic beverages and grilling food. Tailgate parties usually occur in the parking lots at stadiums and arenas, before and occasionally after games and concerts. People attending such a party are said to be tailgating. Many people participate even if their vehicles do not have tailgates.”

Here at the Wine Sisterhood, we’re going to go out on a limb and suggest that you need neither vehicle nor parking lot to have some tailgating fun. So this month, we’re focusing on bringing the spirit of tailgating home with lots of great wine, food and activities you can enjoy—even if you’re not a football fanatic.

We’ve also picked some favorite wines we’ve nominated to the Tailgating All-Star Team. These are wines that we think fit right in with your favorite tailgate foods—especially great with anything grilled. Look for Wine Sisterhood Ravishing Red Cabernet Sauvignon, Deep Purple Zinfandel, PromisQous Red Blend, Middle Sister Wild One Malbec or Monogamy Cabernet Sauvignon at your favorite retailers.
