Make Him Say “Haute Dog!” This Father’s Day

Haute Dog with toppings

Father’s Day is here, and it’s time for your guy to put that new grill accessory set to good use! Take it from us: your hot dog doesn’t have to settle for the usual ketchup and mustard. With a little creativity, you can turn those plain-old franks into “haute dogs” this weekend.

While he’s busy with the grill, whip up some of these great hot dog toppings. Each one comes with wine suggestions for perfect pairings. Check out this past episode of Wine Sisterhood TV for even more fun “haute dog” ideas.

Bruschetta Dogs: Toss two diced tomatoes with one chopped garlic clove, one tablespoon balsamic vinegar, two tablespoons olive oil, some torn basil and salt. Serve grilled hot dogs on toasted Italian buns, top with the tomato mixture and drizzle with olive oil.
Pair with: Middle Sister Drama Queen

Chili Cheese Dogs: Place grilled hot dogs into soft buns and top with ground-beef chili and shredded cheddar.
Pair with: Purple Cowboy Tenacious Red

Chicago Dogs: Serve hot dogs on poppy-seed buns with dill pickle and cucumber spears, sliced tomatoes, sweet pickle relish, pickled peppers, diced onion and yellow mustard. Sprinkle with celery salt.
Pair with: Wine Sisterhood Courageous Cabernet

You can find these hot dog ideas and more at FoodNetwork.com.

Wine by the Grill

Not a hot dog kind of guy? Treat your dad to a day out featuring his favorite pastime. Pair the day’s activities with a tasty glass of wine, and you’ve got yourself a memorable day in the making!

Here are some Father’s Day outing ideas:

For the fisherman father: Spend a day out on the lake or open ocean with some fresh bait and fishing poles. Pair your catch of the day with Middle Sister Surfer Chick Sauvignon Blanc.

For the golfing guy: Pack up your clubs and hit the fairways for a challenging round of golf. After your scores are tallied, relax with a chilled glass of Middle Sister Sweet & Sassy Moscato.

For the site-seer: Head out to your favorite local historical site, park or museum. Make the day even more memorable with a picnic lunch and Monogamy Chardonnay out of the cooler.

For the grill-master: Get the family together, mix your favorite marinade, and fire up the grill. Pair whatever you barbeque with some Purple Cowboy Night Rider Merlot.

Whether you’re hanging out in the backyard, making it a day out and about or just calling to say “Happy Father’s Day,” remember that it’s the simple details – and spending quality time together – that can make this Sunday’s memories worth keeping.

Wishing all of our Wine Misters and Dads out there a very happy Father’s Day!
