This weekend many of us will be getting together with friends and family to celebrate the Passover and Easter holidays. What better way to celebrate with our loved ones than with a hearty meal and a little wine to go with it?

We came across this bread bowl recipe for breakfast or brunch at Perfecting the Pairing and thought it was a great idea for a meal that everyone can enjoy, especially because they’re completely customizable. Below our bread bowl ideas we’ve included some wine pairing suggestions, enjoy!

Ingredients:
  • 8 crusty bread rolls
  • 2 Tb. butter, melted
  • Salt and pepper
  • Assorted fillings*
  • 8 eggs
Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Slice off the top of each roll and scoop out the soft bread inside, leaving the sides of the roll intact. Brush the inside of each roll with the melted butter and season with salt and pepper.

Let your guests fill the roll with their favorite fillings*. Crack an egg or egg white on top, season with salt and pepper, and place on a cookie sheet. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes and then cover the pan loosely with foil. Bake an additional 20 to 25 minutes, or until the egg is just set.

It’s reminiscent of the movie Moonstruck, when Loretta’s mom is cooking and spots the love bite
