Sign up for savings. If you’ve never ordered wine online before, now is a great time to start. Discounts, deals and new virtual content abound when you follow social media or sign up for emails.

Stick to what you like. Order brands and varietals you know and love. You can’t go wrong stocking up on your tried-and-true favorites.

Order something new. We know it’s tough when you can’t talk to your favorite wine shop employee or stop by their store for a weekly wine tasting. Browse resources online, including our Wine 101 posts, and keep an eye out online for virtual wine tastings with your favorite winemakers. Look for a chat bubble on the site where you’re shopping to chat live with a winery representative in real time.

We know it’s not the same as in person, but even an online wine tasting can help you explore new wines based on the hosts’ descriptions. Most online tastings will give viewers the opportunity to ask questions. Don’t be afraid to chime in! Call customer service when you need help. A reputable online seller will have options for reaching their customer service, like a chat feature, phone number, email address or all three. Track your shipment and be home when it arrives. Like most online retailers, an online wine shop will send you a tracking code with your order. Save that email and note the date when your shipment will arrive, you or someone at least 21 years old will need to sign for the package. You may also consider signing up for services like FedEx Delivery Manager or UPS MyChoice that allow you to monitor shipments closer and get deliveries on your schedule.
