Build a Wine Wardrobe

One of our favorite ladies in the world of wine is the unstoppable Leslie Sbrocco. Writer, educator, wine judge, Emmy-winning television personality, international speaker and Thirsty Girl founder, we had the pleasure of having Leslie present a wine seminar at our Wine Sisterhood Gathering. For those of you who couldn’t be with us in person, we highly recommend Leslie’s book “Wine for Women: A Guide to Buying, Pairing & Sharing Wine.” Whether you’re a beginner or expert, there’s something for everybody in this sassy little book. We especially love her genius “Design-a-Dinner” ideas which have to be the fastest and easiest way to rustle up a gourmet dinner from pantry staples— with the perfect wine pairings to boot.

One of our very favorite “Leslie-isms” is how she equates wine varietals to wardrobe essentials in order to help us get have a better understanding of what their styles and just where they might “take” us (Rosé on a picnic? Cab at a high-powered client dinner?) Now you’re talking our language!

Chardonnay/White Burgundy – the “Basic Black” of White Wine
Pinot Gringo/Pinot Gris – the “Denim” of White Wine
Sauvignon Blanc/Sancerre – the “Crisp White Shirt” Wine

i am a fb member of wine sisterhood and share with my best friends. i find this quite informative and will use it from now on. i love the descriptions of the different wines, it made me smile. i woulde to have a glass of a good chardonnay or pinot anytime, even better if i’m sharing with a friend, i would love to have a copy wine for women/wine sisterhood goodies to share with my girlfriends!

How to pick only one?
Cab/Bordeaux – Classic Suit
White Burgundy – Basic Black
(French) Champagne – Make Mine Sequins & Suede
Burgundy – Seductive Satin
Really, how to pick only one? These wines make me feel like – a great pair of jeans, favorite boots, white button down, gold hoops and a strand of pearls. Love ’em all and can’t go wrong with any of them.

Sorry, don’t get it. If I had never tasted these wines, I still wouldn’t know how they tasted or when to drink them. Pinot Grigio = denim? Huh?

I am a basic black, crisp white shirt and denim girl, alternately……but I do love me the Classic Red Suit as well….this is a fun way to look at wines, Love it!!!
