Big Game MVP Wines

This Sunday is all about one thing: football. But let’s not forget the commercials, puppies, half-time shows and of course, the food.

We pulled together a handful of ideas too cook up this weekend in honor of our hometown team making it to the big game and the magic city where it’s all going down.

Here’s what we’re looking forward to cooking and serving up this weekend:

Carne Asada Nachos

Carne Asada Nachos with Purple Cowboy Tenacious Red

Is it even a game day without this favorite finger food? Complete your party with a hot skillet of nachos topped with cheese AND queso, delicious carne asada, pico de gallo, guacamole and anything else your hungry heart desires. We like this recipe from What’s Gaby Cooking, another Bay-area favorite. Pair them with Purple Cowboy Tenacious Red.

Mission Street-Style Burritos with Middle Sister Rebel Red Blend

It’s our hometown team’s time to shine! Save some of that carne asada from your nachos and build a burrito bar complete with everyone’s favorite toppings. Most (but not all) Mission Street-style burritos leave out the rice, so we’ll leave that decision up to you. This recipe hails from across the Bay in Oakland, but it represents the style well. Pour a glass of Middle Sister Rebel Red to serve alongside.

Latin Wings

Smoked Chicken Wings with Bar Dog Pinot Noir

Since we’re on a roll with finger food favorites, switch it up on Sunday and make a tasty batch of chicken wings in your smoker. Whether you dig into your wings dry, or top them with a slightly sweet sauce, we’d call up Bar Dog Pinot Noir to pour. This recipe is already making our mouth water.

Buffalo Cauliflower with Middle Sister Sweet & Sassy Moscato

Create a big batch of Baked Buffalo Cauliflower for all your veggie-loving guests or anyone looking for the flavor of classic wings, but with less calories. Sweet wines do well with spice, so we recommend crowd-favorite Middle Sister Sweet & Sassy Moscato to pair with this dish.

Stone Crab with Bar Dog Chardonnay

THE big game only comes around once a year. It’s a good a time as any to pull out all the stops and put in a big order for crabs with your local fishmonger. Florida Stone Crab claws are served all over South Florida when in season from October to March, but when in Miami, you go to Joe’s Stone Crab. This recipe will get you close. Switch over to the Puppy Bowl for a few minutes and pour a glass of Bar Dog Chardonnay with these tasty treats.
