Burgers With Your Besties
Kick off the summer right this Memorial Day weekend by inviting your besties over for grilled burgers in the backyard. To make it a little more interesting (and stimulating for yourself), try one of the internationally-inspired recipes below which will be sure to surprise and delight your guests. What could be more fun than celebrating America with one of its most favorite foods – the burger!
A Little Latin Flair
Burgers with Caramelized Onions, Jalapeño Relish and Red Pepper Mayonnaise
(Recipe via Food Republic)
Wine: promisQous Red or White
Suggested Side: Grandma Peggy’s Mexican Rice Casserole
1 C. raw rice
2 C. sour cream
1 lb. jack cheese, grated
16 oz. can diced green chiles
1 lb. sharp cheddar cheese, grated
Salt to taste
Butter
1. Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees.
2. Cook rice as usual. Combine with sour cream and salt to taste. If you are feeling frisky, add a dash of Cayenne Pepper as well.
3. Arrange half sour cream and rice mixture in bottom of casserole dish. On top layer chiles, jack cheese, and more chiles.
4. Cover with rest of rice mixture and dot with butter. Top with cheddar cheese.
